SUNDAY 6th JULY 2014
A large Gooseberry Pie is carried by the Devon Belle on the Paignton and Dartmouth Steam Railway to Churston station on the 1st Sunday in July where it is collected to be paraded down to the village of Galmpton to be enjoyed by the large crowds of villagers and visitors attending the Galmpton Gooseberry Pie Fair every year.
Carrying the pie, made by Hallets the Bakers in Paignton, are officers from the Britannia, Naval College, Dartmouth.
Galmpton Pre-school will be making gooseberry outfits, flags and crowns.
On the day the children will meet at Churston Grammar School, dressed in their outfits, they will then follow the pie down to the Manor Inn.
We will be having a stall at the fair to raise money for the Pre school and this year we will be selling drinks, sweets and quiches and we will also have a jarbola.
